environment projets sponsored by Cruma
We believe that one of our responsibilities is to protect the environment, that’s why we donate 1% of our annual sales to organizations that preserve it.
This year, with 1% of 2009 sales, we finance one of the projects supported by NGO Nereo: the restoration of water habitat.
Project 01. The restoring water habitat of Las Closas de Fonollera.

Las Closas de la Fonollera is a coastal estate of 61.775 acres located in Torroella de Montgrí (Baix Empordà, Gerona, Spain) whose natural value is very important thanks to the different water habitats present in it, among which we can find a zone of dunes, salt marsh with salicornia, wattle and beach woods.
Nevertheless, the lack of regulation of public use, together with the fact that not enough water gets into the territory, have caused an improper state of conservation of these habitats. For this reason the owner of the land and Nereo NGO last June signed a safekeeping agreement to start a restoration and conservation project.
The main objective of this project is to change this situation by creating a water plan for these areas and a plan that regulates the public use of the estate; in this last one, there is the creation of the savage fauna observatory financed by Cruma.

the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Cruma
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), is a concept whereby the interests of companies are considered by taking responsibility for the impact of their activities on customers, employees, shareholders and the environment in all aspects of their operations.
For the International Labour Organization (ILO), the social responsibility of a company is the actions that the company takes in order to have a positive influence on the society, to affirm the principles and values it is ruled by, in its own methods and internal processes and in its relationships with other actors. The corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a voluntary initiative.
The main ethical responsibilities of a company towards the workers and the community are:
• To supply the society with useful products and fair conditions
• To create wealth in the most efficient way.
• To respect human rights with decent working conditions that promote safety and health at work and the development of human and professional workers.
• To ensure the continuity of the business and, if possible, to achieve reasonable growth.
• To respect the environment avoiding, if possible, any kind of pollution, by reducing the generation of waste and rationalizing the use of natural and energy resources.
• To observe the laws, rules, regulations and customs, respecting all the contracts and firm commitments.
• To ensure the equitable distribution of wealth generated.
