CRUMA vertical laminar flow hood with ISO Class 5 air purity creates a sterile
environment free of particles and/or microorganisms that ensures the reliability of any
test inside the hood. It incorporates a HEPA H-14 absolute filter of minimum efficiency
of 99.995% for particles of 0.3 mm, and a 15W UV germicide lamp designed to
decontaminate the hood before and after use. In compliance with the EN-1822, DIN-
24184, US St-209, ISO-14644, EN-ISO 90001:2000.

check-ups and validations

International standards for the design and operation of laminar flow cabinets, clean rooms and related systems, such as BS 7989:2001, EN-12469 and EN-ISO-14644 (all of which are observed in CRUMA models) recommend that cabinets should be inspected once a year.
This inspection should really be a validation or qualification, i.e., it should be carried out in accordance with a protocol created by CRUMA (PCO 002/03 Protocol of Operational Qualification) and based on that set out in the above standards.
In Spain, these qualification operations will have to be performed by ENAC (National Accrediting Agency) -certified companies or any of its accredited offices, and authorized by CRUMA, who is responsible for advising them on the implantation of the qualification
protocol. In practice, CRUMA has its own laminar flow cabinets validation service performed by companies that are certified and have proven experience in the field.

The protocols (PCO 00/03 and PCO 002/03) currently employed by CRUMA in validation and checkup operations are in general comprised of the following procedures:

• Visual inspection to determine state of conservation.
• Airflow rate and uniformity test.
• Filter frame case air-tightness test.
• Filter medium air- tightness test.
• Airflow distribution test (Smoke test).

• Particle count and class determination.
• Temperature.
• Relative humidity.
• Electrical test.

Once the above procedures have been performed, a technical report containing the following points is issued:

• Description of the work procedures performed.
• Copy of the current calibration certificates of each measurement unit used.
• Diagram of the cabinet with the coded location of sample points.
• Results obtained.
• Certificate of cabinet performance
